FAQ: VI Peels

  • What is the starting cost of this treatment?
    •  $300 is the starting cost.
  • Who administers the chemical peels at Allure?
    • All chemical peels at Allure Laser Medispa are administered by one of our Nurse Practitioners after a thorough assessment and consultation.
  • How do I know what peel I should get?
    • When you have an Aesthetic Consultation with our Nurse Practitioners, we do a full skin assessment and health history, and after reviewing your individual goals, we determine the perfect peel for you!
  • How often can I get a peel?
    • For the best results, we suggest a peel every 4 to 6 weeks, and usually a minimum of 3 peels for most skin concerns.  We do offer discounts for packages of 3 peels!
  • How long will my face be peeling after treatment?
    • Generally, you can expect 2 days of bronzed or pink skin that feels tight.  Days 3 through 5 are typically when the peeling occurs, and it usually subsides by day 6.
  • What do I need to avoid before & after having a peel?
    • If you are prone to cold sores, we will review the need for medication at your consultation appointment.
    • Avoid Accutane for 3 months before a peel, and any abrasive or exfoliating products (retinol, glycolic acid, etc.) for at least 1 week before a peel and 2 weeks afterward.
    • If you are allergic to salicylic acid, aspirin, phenol, or hydroquinone, you should NOT receive a VI Peel.
    • Throughout your treatment, we ask that you avoid the sun, and use sunscreen at least SPF 50 or higher.  We can review other recommended skincare products at the time of your consultation.
  • Can I exercise after getting a peel?
    • NO!  We do not want you getting overheated and/or sweating for at least 72 to 96 hours to prevent blistering and/or hyperpigmentation.
